Welcome

1830 – Ava welcomed and called the meeting to order.

Minutes Approval

Minutes from November 17th, 2025 approved by Laura Kotowicz, 2nd by Kayla Chelton. All in favor, no objections or abstentions.

Principal Report

  • We will have 2 TK classes; about 50% of returning families

  • Will keep current configuration

  • Layoffs of IA’s as the COVID funds have run out as they were a one-time fund. We have been able to stretch this fund for 5 years. All notices to be sent out by March 15th.

  • The TK aids will not be affected by this as they need to maintain ratios. TK has a cap of 24 students & kinder has a cap of 26 per class. 

  • Tentative TK round UP date

  • There is a waitlist for all grades. 

  • Overnight field trips have started

Teacher’s Report

  • All overnighters are happening

  • The wax museum was a success

  • Sutter’s Fort was a success

  • A lot of positive events happening on campus currently

  • All teachers have put in for the teacher time events for spring fundraiser

  • Teachers have put in for their placements for next year

  • Open house needs? Angela plans to have teachers talk with class coordinators for food choices for open house

  • Student council to host bake sale during open house again

  • Open house is March 26th

Student Council Report

  • Later discussion about utilizing funds

  • February 13th valentine’s dance was a success

  • Clara Heard, one of th4e SC presidents

  • This week is the toiletry supply drive 2/23-2/27 – benefitting loaves and fishes (6th-8th grade bring their items to home room)

  • Weekly bobcat broadcast in affect

  • Student store still out there every tues & thurs. Using the 3D printer

  • Planning in process for the bake off for open house

  • Request made for SC to pick theme for jogathon for 2026. 

  • Request for SC to discuss if they will contribute to jogathon shirts

PTSO Chair Report

  • Renewed Charitable Trust Registry successfully completed

  • Final open meeting of PTSO will be Monday, June 1st

  • At this meeting, elections will be held. About ½ of the positions will be up for elections. 

  • Proposed Schedule for 2026-27 available and being reviewed by Kim. This includes meetings and school events

  • Questions about continuing meetings on Mondays versus switching them to a Wednesday/Thursday later in the month.

Treasurer Report

  • Taxes filed on time and no late fees acquired

  • Rubric payout to be coming to all the classes

  • Discussion of switching rubric payout to be based on class roster versus proposed students that plan to go on overnight as the cost difference is minuscule

  • Changing to this format will allow earlier payout of the rubric. 

  • Motion made by Laura Kotowicz “Next year we will use the roster numbers to allocate the rubric funds by class size as registered by December 1st.” Seconded by Kayla Chelton. All in favor, no objections, no abstentions.

  • 7.7% of class funded by rubric last year

Grade Treasurer

  • Pay your invoice

  • If you are not getting your invoice, please let your class treasurer know

Proposals for Vote

  • Classroom Book Line Item – how do we get this used so that 

  • Angela would like to make sure the teachers know about this

  • Bookfair money is different that the classroom book line item

  • Motion to add to the book line item to include “and enrichment” 11 in favor, 3 opposed, 4 abstentions. This will go into effect next school year. 

OVO Boutique

  • Was a success

  • Lots of donations from last year were also used and sold

  • $5000 made and this money went into the families-to-families fund which helps our OVO families in need

Campus Monitor Funds

  • All funds have been spent

  • Kickballs, wax twisty items

  • 3 table top ping pong tables have been purchased

Board Director Updates

  • Staff appreciation is coming up

  • Conversation of different ways to give staff a week worth of goodies

  • Would an amazon Wishlist be helpful? Would parents be willing to buy items to benefit? 

  • Suggestion of having Steph create a Wishlist and send out. 

  • Staff Appreciation will be April 13th-17th 

  • Swag – we made $63 off of the black Friday swag sale

Spring Fundraiser

  • Spring Fundraiser is March 7th 

  • 84 tickets sold so far – will be held at the Orangevale Grange

  • Baskets, Class creations, class baskets, Southwest tickets, Teacher time auction items

  • Raffle tickets to begin being sold next week that will go toward raffle items

  • Teacher Time will be a raffle item

  • Dessert Dash info to be going out

Beautification

  • Complicated in that there are many district restrictions

  • We could use volunteers of those who would like to help with beautification

Kids Club

  • Historically, parent and middle schoolkids would watch younger kids so that parents can attend their monthly parent meeting

  • Kids club proposal included for review

  • Could be used as a middle school fundraiser

Kris Wakamiya made motion to adjourn @ 1959. Seconded by Chrissy France.
